African Youth Empowered with Digital Skills for Life!

"A massive investment in education and skills transfer is essential if the South is to compete in the global communications marketplace. This too requires long term international co-operation.” Nelson Mandela’s words may have been spoken over twenty years ago, they still echo through today’s complex digital world. 

Spearheaded by SAP in 2015 as part of its social investments to drive sustainable growth in Africa, Africa Code Week is a digital skills development initiative that has benefitted millions of young Africans so far. 

It takes an empowered village to raise a child in the digital age: Strong partnerships with the public, private and non-profit sectors are the driving force behind the initiative’s ability to build teaching capacity across the continent in support of UN Sustainable Development Goals.

In 2020

Expand our reach to all countries through our new virtual model and mobile app - making open-source digital training freely and easily available to both teachers and students.

In 2019

3.85 million youth engaged and 39,000 teachers mobilized.
Irish Aid joined a strategic partner.

2015-2018

Millions of youth learnt coding skills and thousands of teachers on-boarded the Africa Code Week digital learning curriculum.
